The Swedish company Bergs Timber AB will invest SEK 27 million (EUR 3 million) in a new production line for small logs at its Mörlunda mill, Swedish news platform Skogsaktuellt reported. With the investment, sawmill production will reach an annual capacity of 110,000 cubic metres of sawn timber, which means an increase by 40,000 cubic metres compared to the current cutting line. Output growth can take place with unchanged staffing.

The investment is estimated at about SEK 27 million (EUR 3 million) and will be financed partially with own funds and with an SEK 10 million (EUR 1,1 million) bank loan.

Work will begin immediately and the new line is expected to be operational in the spring of 2014. The existing line of small diameter logs will then be dismantled.
