The Finnish Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK) reported last week that the volume of roundwood sales had risen to a level not seen in ten years. Responding to Russia's decision to raise export duties on roundwood and reluctance on the part of Finnish forest owners to sell wood, the Finnish government last month unveiled a tax break on roundwood sales in an effort to guarantee sufficent feedstock for the country's forest industry.
