1,615 exhibitors with a booked area of 106,000 square meters and 45,000 trade visitors from more than 100 nations came to Hanover from 12 to 15 January for this year's Domotex. Last year, there were around 40,000 visitors. Domotex took place for the first time from Friday to Monday instead of Saturday to Tuesday, after the redesign of the fair.
Friday as the first day of the fair was obviously well received by the visitors. The exhibition halls were busy, and the exhibitors interviewed by IHB-Fordaq were almost all very satisfied with the first day. The typical slow start was absent this year.
The hall occupancy was new. Halls 14-17 were replaced by halls 11-13, allowing rail passengers to use the Skywalk, which arrives at Hall 13 on the exhibition grounds.
The exhibitors of wooden floors moved from halls 8 and 9 and in halls 12 and 13, those of resilient floors, who where in hall 6 before were now as well in halls 12 and 13. Only a few companies in the wood and LVT sector have remained in hall 9, which together with hall 8 was dedicated to the cross-material topic "framing trends".
At the new "Framing Trends" special area in Hall 9, exhibitors, artists and young designers have creatively explored individuality in 20 "framed" rooms. The concept is to be maintained and will continue to be a central component of Domotex in the future.
Of the 45,000 visitors, more than 65% came from abroad - around 60% from Europe, around 25% from Asia and 11% from America. There were significant increases in visitors, especially from the USA and South and Central America. The majority of Domotex visitors, according to the Deutsche Messe, were buyers from specialist retailers and wholesalers, craftsmen, architects and interior designers. An increase was particularly noticeable in furnishing and furniture stores, architects, interior designers and contractors as well as craftsmen.
The next DOMOTEX will take place from 11 to 14 January 2019.
The DOMOTEX will be launched in 2019 in North America as well. The premiere of DOMOTEX USA will take place from February 28 to March 2, 2019 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
