Finland increased roundwood trade by 21%

According to the Finnish Institute for Natural Resources (Luke), in September 2021, standing spruce logs in Finland cost an average of € 65.4 per m³, which is 1% less than in August. The average price for pine logs remained at the level of EUR 61.6 per m³. The real price level for logs was 1% higher than the average price for the entire last year.

The constant price for spruce pulpwood was € 20.2 / m³, for birch pulpwood - € 17.9 / m³. The average price level for pulpwood was 1% lower than in August and 7% lower than a year earlier.

The roadside price for pine pulpwood was € 32.3, for spruce pulpwood € 33.5, and for birch pulpwood € 32.7 / m³. In delivery sales, the average price level for pulpwood remained the same as in the previous month, but was 8% higher than last year.

As a result, in September the volume of trade in roundwood from non-industrial private forests was 21% higher than the average for the previous three years. The volume of purchases of industrial roundwood in January-September 2021 increased by 47% compared to the same period last year and was 27% higher than the average for the previous three years. Compared to the previous three years, trade in logs increased by 48% and trade in balance sheets by 10%.
