Germany: pine log price index mainly rising sharply

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for pine rose sharply almost continuously in July 2022. On average, log wood increased by 6.8% compared to the previous month to a level of 94.5 points. B quality gained 15.4% to 112.9 points. 3/4 m lengths increased by 9.7% to 107 points.

C qualities recorded an increase of 5.9% to 89.5 points. 3 m lengths increased by 7.3% to 106.8 points. However, B/C ranges fell by 0.8% to 83.3 points.

Alternativtext Pine pulpwood in July recorded a minus of 2.2% to 93.1 points. Douglas fir pulpwood maintained the level of 70 points. Spruce pulpwood fell by 1.7% to a value of 94.5 points. The softwood pulpwood index fell by 1.8% to 92 points.

Year-on-year, the pine index rose 25.5%. B ranges increased by 30.5% – in a length of 3 to 4 m by 26.8%. C grades gained 36.2% compared to July 2021. 3m lengths increased by 41.3%. B/C ranges exceeded the previous year's level by 13.5%. Pine pulpwood exceeded the index level of the same month last year by 29%
