The newly elected chairman of the raw wood trade department in GD Holz, Dietmar Reith, welcomed 15 participants to the department's internal meeting for the first face-to-face event in one and a half years. Reith emphasized that he had invited to this informal exchange in order to discuss the current difficult market situation. Overall, the raw wood dealers present are very satisfied with the current market situation, but the individual ranges find very different sales.

Further strong bark beetle infestations are reported from several regions in central Germany, the department expressed its concern that the supply situation with spruce logs could become scarce in these regions in the foreseeable future - if the forest damage continues to develop like this. The decisive question will then be where, in particular, regional medium-sized sawmills get their material from.

For the autumn business, the traders are expecting the forest owners to fall again, so that goods can be made available on the market. The coming months will certainly be very interesting from the retailer's point of view. The trade offers itself as a mediator between forest ownership and processor as a strong and flexible service provider.
