Spruce prices continue to fall in Tyrol

In March, prices for fresh spruce logs in Tyrol continued to fall. The prices for low-grade spruce ranges are at a stable low level. Due to the storm Vaia, much more wood is felled in East Tyrol than in North Tyrol. In northern Tyrol, the minimum quantity for an evaluation was exceeded in March only for fresh spruce. The price level of the main assortment fell slightly in March.

East Tyrol

Spruce sawlogs- quality class Cx: 50,05 € / m³

Spruce sawlogs (small diameters) B/C:  57,01 € / m³

Softwood firewood: 25,71 € / m³

Spruce sawlogs- quality class Cx: 49,29 € / m³

Fir sawlogs quality B/C: 66,36 €/m³

Larch sawlogs B / C: 106,40 € / m³

East Tyrol

Roundwood price index Tyrol (RUPI)

Monthly Index March 2019: 109.923%

The monthly index fell marginally in March at an average price of € 71.77 / m³ (-1.564%).

Quarterly sindex (I/19) 111,210 %

In the first quarter of the year, the Tyrolean roundwood price index fell sharply at -8.884% compared to the fourth quarter of 2018.

Firewood Price Index Tyrol (BHI)

For the first quarter of 2019 the firewood price index is 145,975%. This means that the BWI has risen significantly compared to the 4th quarter of 2018 (+ 3.051%).
