UPM Timber is planning measures to streamline its operations, improve its profitability and strengthen its competitiveness. The planned measures are aimed at renewing the sawmill management model and streamlining the supply chain. In addition, it is planned to close the Kaukas sawmill's small support line during 2021. According to the plan, the Far East would focus on one saw line in the future. There are also plans to optimize the capacity of the Korkeakoski sawmill.

UPM Timber will initiate a co-operation procedure in connection with the plans. The co-operation negotiations cover UPM Timber's personnel in Finland, with the exception of sales personnel and employees of the Seikku and Alholma sawmills. The estimated total reduction need is a maximum of 60 tasks.
